En la Mitología hindú, VISVÂMITRA era un rey de la India. Una vez se fue de caza a un bosque en los Himalayas. Él y su tropa sintieron hambre y fatiga luego de la caza. Vieron una ermita y descubrieron que era la ermita del Brahmarsi Vasistha (un Brahmarsi es un sabio de consciencia cósmica). El Rey se acercó al sabio y lo saludó. El Sabio Vasistha le dio la bienvenida y le ofreció un asiento. Cuando el Rey le dijo al sabio que él y su séquito estaban en gran necesidad de comida y descanso, el sabio inmediatamente llamó a Kâmadhenu, la vaca de la abundancia, y le pidió que alimentara a toda la gente, y al Rey. La vaca de los deseos produjo la comida por un simple acto de voluntad y los alimentó a todos. Estaban asombrados ante el poder realizador de deseos de la vaca (que simboliza poderes yóguicos infinitos).
